The Challenge
Scenery is an iOS based SaaS platform for building custom Augmented and Virtual Reality experiences. Amped Labs UG had previously also built Scavengar, an AR building app.
The new app, Scenery, required a visual identity that would resonate with iOS developers and showcase its compatibility with cutting-edge devices like Apple Vision Pro. The challenge was to create a modern, tech-forward brand while maintaining a connection to Amped Labs UG existing app - Scavengar.
Approach
Our approach combined 2D and 3D design techniques to create a dynamic and versatile visual identity:
Ideation began with 2D sketches in Adobe Illustrator, exploring shapes that conveyed the concept of augmented reality and scene creation.
We then transitioned to 3D modeling to add depth and dimension to our concepts.
The 3D forms were revolved and captured from various angles to find the most compelling 2D representation.
Selected 3D forms were then illustrated as 2D designs.
We experimented with Spline to incorporate particle effects, adding a layer of dynamism to the logo.
Typeface exploration was conducted to find a font that complemented the logo and reflected the brand's innovative nature.
Final forms were converted into 3D illustrations using Sketch.
Throughout the process, I collaborated closely with the Creative Lead to refine and iterate on our concepts.
Solution
The final Scenery logo and visual identity embody the brand's core attributes:
A dynamic, abstract form that suggests both "S" for Scenery and the concept of layered realities
A color palette that balances tech-inspired tones with vibrant accents, reflecting the creativity possible within the platform
A modern, sans-serif typeface that conveys professionalism and ease-of-use
The new brand identity successfully positions Scenery as a cutting-edge tool for AR development while maintaining a subtle connection to its Scavengar roots.
Outcome and Impact
Scenery was successfully launched for Apple Vision Pro and other iOS devices, becoming one of the first 200 apps available on Apple Vision Pro. This early adoption positioned Scenery as a pioneer in the AR development space for next-generation devices. The rebrand helped elevate Scenery's perception in the market, attracting both developers and potential business partners interested in creating custom AR experiences.
