Google x Scavengar
Geospatial API Videos
Scavengar was asked to take over the Twitter for Google AR/VR for one day. We had to create a series of Video to showcase the use of the Google AR geo-spatial API feature. This feature is embedded in the Scavengar app enabling users to launch Augmented Reality Experiences across the globe.
My role was to create 8 short form videos for Google AR/VR Twitter, that showcased different aspects of the Geospatial API - in the Dev mode and preview in Scavengar app. I worked with existing video material, and had to ensure not to repeat frames.

Tools
Tweet 1 - An overarching view of the entire MUV Frankfurt Experience
Context
Anchoring 3D elements to a geographical landmark using Google Geospatial API.
The Geospatial API was a new Google feature. Google wanted to showcase how it was being applied in building geo-location anchored AR experiences.
Locations - Otto Hahn monument and Goethe monument - Frankfurt am Main
Scavengar worked on an experience which could be witnessed by people passing by the Goethe Monument and Otto Hahn monument in Frankfurt am Main - all you had to do was scan a QR code with your phone.
The monument and the environment around would come alive to showcase a untold story of physicist Lise Meitner (1878-1968) at the Otto Hahn monument and the entomologist and naturalist Maria Sibylla Merian (1647- 1717) at the Goethe monument.
Tweet 2- Accurate positioning of 3D models in the mapped landscape - Development mode
Approach
8 short form videos that highlight different Geo-spatial API features.
We worked with the Make Us Visible Frankfurt experience that was created in specific geo-location monuments in Frankfurt Am Main, Germany.
The series of 8 videos take the viewers through the application, process and outcome of utilizing the Google API in building an AR experience.
Tweet 3 - The anchoring feature in the Scavengar app to launch the experience
Solution
An immersive experience that can be anchored to the specific geo-location.
Dividing the videos into sequences to highlight different applications of the geo-spatial API as applied in the Make Us Visible project.
Tweet 4 - Applying physics to 3D models and combining them with Geolocation tracking
Tweet 5 - Developer side view of the Geolocation on the Scenery app, placing the 3D models through the app
Tweet 7 - Showcasing the "Particalize" by Mohsen Hazrati for Lise Meitner in the Scavengar app (audience experience)
Takeaways
Short form videos that convey the features.
Creating short form videos that focus on the tool requires an indepth understanding of the features. Breaking these features into individual videos was also an interesting challenge with limited recorded content.
Tweet 8 - Showcasing the"Metamorphosis" by Dagmar Schürrer for the entomologist and naturalist Maria Sibylla Merian in the Scavengar app (audience experience)
